Portland Area Bridges
As an artist, I appreciate sets or series of things which are related somehow, or can be connected. I started the process of looking at the Portland bridges and decided to complete the series. I am selling digital downloads of all of these drawings which I created, or they can be commissioned for purchase.
Multnomah Falls is an iconic Oregon waterfall in the Columbia River Gorge.

The Tillicum Bridge is the newest Portland area bridge. It is a bus-and-pedestrian bridge only, making it a unique way to cross the Willamette River.

The Hawthorne Bridge a vertical lift bridge - and is the oldest of this type of bridge in the United States making it one of the reasons Portland is Bridge City!

The Burnside Bridge crosses the Willamette River, and divides North from South Portland. This is a Drawbridge style bridge (Bascule) and is styled with distinctive Italian Renaissance themed concrete towers!

The St. Johns Bridge sits high above the (Willamette) River. It is a beautiful gothic style bridge and is a suspension style bridge. Portlanders and visitors alike immediately recognize the St. Johns Bridge.

The Steel Bridge is a rare double-deck vertical lift bridge where the lower deck can retract independently inside the upper structure or both rise together. The green represents a night sky backlit behind the bridge.

The Fremont Bridge sits high above the city, and is a steel tied arch, double-decker with freeway lanes to accommodate traffic lanes. This historic construction of this bridge occurred when the center span was lifted in 1973 when the bridge was erected.

The Sellwood Bridge sits at the south end of the city. When it closed in on its 100th year, it was replaced with a sturdy replacement. The Bridge style is a modern deck arch.

The Morrison Bridge in downtown Portland and is a double leaf Chicago style Bascule bridge. Bascule means that the bridge has two movable sections and rotate to let boats pass. These 2 panels represent the bridge closed AND opened.

Portland is known for having a unique mix of bridges, so these glass panels try to showcase some of the beauty that makes up the cityscape.
